NeuroHero: A Journey to Regeneration

Project Summary

Join Nexus, the fibroblast, on his journey to save Armlandia by navigating its nervous ruins to gather Schwann cells and aid in nerve regeneration.

As part of a fundraising event, this educational 2D-pixel platformer was created to empower players and “bridge the gap” caused by neurophobia. The final deliverable scaffolds content on the cellular physiology and clinical applications behind neural regeneration after an injury. In addition to replayability as a 2D platformer role playing game (RPG), Neurohero also teaches users about 3rd degree neurotmesis through engagement with a combination of illustrated comics as well.
